IGL initiates the transformation of rural villages in India through education, vocation, health care and spiritual training to enable villagers to create for themselves a self-sustainable future and improve socio-economic conditions in rural areas.
Regardless of caste, creed, religion or economic status, villagers are trained to make and manage income, build village infrastructure through clean water wells, raising livestock, developing housing and more. By aligning with the UN's Millennial Development Goals, IGL has adopted the following objectives:
- To provide basic health care services and to reduce the mortality and morbidity rates.
- To decrease the occurrence of preventable diseases through antenatal/postnatal care, immunization, growth care and prevention of malnutrition among children.
- To educate people about sexually transmitted diseases.
- To promote thrift groups and to involve them in income-generating activities to increase family income.
- To encourage environmental protection.
- To teach village sanitation and help prevent mosquito-borne diseases and communicable diseases
- To involve the community in sustainable resource management.
- To empower women through micro-credit loans and skills training in areas such as garment-making, basketry and bee-keeping.
- To portray the village church as the life-radiating center by encouraging the communities in and around the church through the love of Christ.

Sewing machine
Due to the immense amount of work it takes to run a home with no electricity or running water on an insufficient income, many rural women stay home to care for their families and homes. Your gift will enable a woman, or group of women, to tailor from home and provide care for their children at the same time.
